Our feet are the foundation of our body, yet they are often the most neglected part. We rely on them every day - whether we’re walking, working, or simply going about our daily routine - but we rarely give them the care and attention they deserve. Poor foot health can lead to discomfort, pain, and even long term issues that affect overall well being. That’s why investing in proper footwear and good foot care habits is essential.

Our Founder Stacey has spent over 11 years researching, developing and designing high quality footwear to ensure that every step you take is comfortable and well supported. There is a LOT of design elements and considerations to making quality shoes, and footwear that will keep your feet (and entire body!) healthy and happy!

So here are our top tips for foot care 101 ♥

Why Foot Care Matters

Your feet absorb shock, provide stability, and support your entire body weight. When your feet are not properly cared for, it can lead to problems such as:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Bunions & corns
  • Ankle, achilles and knee issues
  • Lower back & joint pain

Ignoring these issues can lead to chronic discomfort, making it difficult to stay active and productive. The good news? Many foot problems can be prevented by wearing the right shoes and following a few simple care tips.

The Importance of Quality Shoes

Not all shoes are created equal! Cheap or unsupportive footwear may seem like a good deal initially, but over time, they can cause serious foot health issues and also won't last the distance. Here’s what to look for in quality footwear:

  • Underfoot support and structure – Helps distribute weight evenly and supports the shape and contours of your foot.
  • Firm heel counter - Provides crucial support and stability, helping to maintain proper foot alignment, and helps to prevent ailments such as overpronation and achilles discomfort.
  • Heel-to-toe pitch - Plays a vital role in helping to reduce the strain on ankles and achilles, and is particularly important if you suffer from ankle mobility issues (or ankle discomfort).
  • Structural comfort – Promotes good fit and comfort, and proper structural supports helps lock your foot into place.
  • Proper fit – Shoes that are too tight or too loose can lead to discomfort and injuries.
  • Soles with shock absorption properties - Reduces impact on joints, minimises strain on the feet, and enhances overall comfort, preventing fatigue and injury.
  • Slip resistant soles – Prevents slips and falls.

Simple Foot Care Tips

Taking care of your feet doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are some easy steps to keep your feet healthy and pain free:

  1. Choose the right shoes – Invest in supportive, structural, high quality footwear that are designed for all day wear (like she wear ;)).
  2. Wear high quality socks - Breathable socks made from fibres such as organic bamboo will keep your feet dry and comfortable.
  3. Trim nails properly – Cut nails straight across to prevent ingrown toenails.
  4. Keep feet moisturised – Dry, cracked skin can lead to discomfort and infections.
  5. Stretch & exercise – Strengthen your feet with simple exercises like toe curls and ankle rolls.
  6. Replace worn out shoes – Shoes lose support over time; replace them when they become worn out.
  7. Listen to your feet – If you experience persistent pain, consult a professional before it worsens.

Our Best Advice from 11 Years in the Shoe Game

  • Avoid wearing high heels or shoes with no support like thongs/flip flops.
  • Wear supportive shoes with structural design components.
  • Wear shoes that are designed for your foot type - eg. if you have a wide foot, look for a wide fit design (and not just a half size).
  • Look for wider toe boxes, avoid the pointy shoes and anything too narrow.
  • Ensure the shoe heel is narrower than the forefoot (hence why it's important to wear shoes designed for a female foot, as we have a narrower heel-to- forefoot ratio than men).
  • Don't spend too long in bare feet (a little bit is great for your soul, but for longer wear, look after your sole!)
  • Wear fit-for-purpose work shoes that are certified occupational footwear (all the components of a certified shoe meet very high standards and are rigorously tested which means they last longer than a typical fashion shoe).
  • Do foot exercises daily.
  • Only wear high quality socks.
  • Wear she wear!
