Whether you're working in a demanding job, chasing after kids, or simply leading an active lifestyle, being on your feet all day can take a toll on your feet (and your body!). Proper foot care is essential to ensure you stay comfortable, healthy and happy. Here are our top 10 foot health tips for women who are constantly on the move.

1. Choose fit-for-purpose footwear

Invest in quality shoes that are made for the job at hand!  It's imperative to wear shoes designed for the purpose - slip resistant work shoes, structural and supportive lifestyle sneakers, and premium certified safety boots.  All she wear shoes are crafted for long term comfort and support, reducing strain on your feet, ankles, knees and back.

Always ensure your shoes fit you correctly.  Shoes that are too tight or too loose can cause foot problems and your shoes will breakdown more quickly. If you have a wide foot, choose a style specifically designed for wider feet - cramped toes will just cause discomfort and long term issues.

2. Rotate your shoes

Avoid wearing the same pair of shoes every day. Rotating your footwear gives your shoes time to air out and maintain their shape, and it helps prevent foot fatigue by varying pressure points. Your shoes will also last longer!

3. Wear quality, structural footbeds

Bio mechanical footbeds, like our signature she wear insoles, provide additional cushioning and support, tailored to your foot's unique shape and needs. Orthotics are also an option if you have specific foot needs (we do always recommend visiting a medical professional if you have a foot injury or regular foot pain).

4. Stretch your feet regularly

Take a few minutes each day to stretch your feet and toes. Simple exercises like toe curls, ankle rotations, and heel raises can improve flexibility and circulation, reducing discomfort and preventing injuries.

5. Wear good quality socks

Good hygiene is crucial and the right sock is imperative to ensure your feet breathe within shoes.  Choose socks such as organic bamboo which is naturally breathable, antibacterial, hypoallergenic, thermo regulating and moisture wicking.

    6. Moisturize your feet
Apply a good quality foot cream daily to keep your skin soft and prevent dryness and cracking. Pay special attention to your heels and the balls of your feet.
      7. Trim your toenails

Cut your toenails straight across and avoid cutting them too short to prevent ingrown toenails. If you’re unsure, consider seeing a professional for a pedicure.

      8. Elevate your feet

Whenever possible, take short breaks to elevate your feet above heart level. This helps reduce swelling and improves circulation, giving your feet a much needed rest.

        9. Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet
Proper hydration and nutrition are essential for overall health, including foot health. Ensure you’re drinking enough water and eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals.
          10. Listen to your feet!

Pay attention to any pain or discomfort. Persistent pain can be a sign of a more serious issue. Don’t ignore it – consult a healthcare professional if you have concerns. If you are finding your shoes aren't as comfortable as they used to be or are no longer giving you structural support, it's time to invest in a new pair!
